We utilize state-of-the-art technology throughout the practice not only because it benefits us, but ultimately because it improves the results for you. We want to shorten the length of your visits, make your time in the chair more comfortable and increase the safety of procedures. We are constantly investing in new technology, training and modern techniques to ensure you’re receiving the highest level of care both physically but also experientially.

technology benefits

the difference of technology

High quality state-of-the-art equipment with the benefits to match.

reduce aerosol

We use DryShield protection for procedures that produce aerosol. This system provides a comfortable mouthpiece to hold your mouth open, while a high speed suction reduces aerosol and liquid in your mouth. This creates a more comfortable experience for the patient, while creating a clean and dry environment for higher quality dentistry.

pre-injection numbing

We utilize a compounded formulation of a strong topical anesthetic to pre-numb before injections which reduces any discomfort you might receive from the injections that are meant to remove your pain!

visual communication

The technological advances in modern dentistry have greatly improved the efficiency in which our office communicates with patients, outside laboratories, and referring specialists.  A significant improvement in efficiency is delivered by the use of high resolution digital photography (DSLR) and digital radiography. These photos help us educate our patients on their condition, provide our laboratories with abundant information about your smile, and leave no guesswork for outside specialists seeing our patients.

visual magnification

The use of loupes worn by dental providers allow for 3x magnification.

sanitizing & filtering

Safety in a healthcare facility is always at the forefront of our minds, but particularly in the Covid-19 era. In addition to the traditional protocol that we employ to maintain a sterile equipment and environment, we have also increased our air filtration system. We’ve installed UV sanitizing lights in the central air unit to kill airborne germs and mold and are using UV-C units to sanitize smaller devices in the office.

See patient safety for more Covid-19 protocol.

decreased radiation from X-rays

We utilize a state of the art digital X-ray camera that is similar in size to a DSLR camera.  This allows our staff to easily position the camera for your x-rays to be taken quickly!  Traditionally, a team member would place the X-ray sensor/film in your mouth and then leave the room to press the activation button.  The new X-ray camera technology allows the team member to stay in the room the whole time, greatly reducing the time needed for a full set of images.

This technology and efficiency of use results in far less radiation from X-rays. The improvement in image quality also allows us to be able to spot potential issues easier. We recognize the X-ray process can be a little uncomfortable for some of our patients and we will continue to use the latest technology to improve the patient experience for this process.

laser technology

Diagnodent Laser

We use a diagnodent laser for detection of dental caries (cavities). It allows us to safely detect early, initial caries as well as hidden caries using LASER fluorescence technology.

It also reduces the use of the manual probe, which means decreased abrasion of the enamel. It’s gentle measurement enables micro-invasive treatment, without the unnecessary removal of healthy enamel in many cases.

Diode Laser

Diode Lasers are used to contour gums or provide other soft tissue dental treatments.

During cleanings a laser is utilized within the gum pockets to reduce bacterial contamination and promote healing. Laser treatment is painless during and after the procedure.

The same laser treatment can be used on a more powerful setting by the dentist after a scaling and root planing procedure to treat periodontal disease. In these conditions, the laser is more than just a bacteria reducer, it’s used to remove damaged/poorly healing gum tissue and stimulate the healing process.

pain management

painless injections in 1–2–3

Worries about potential dental pain shouldn’t stop you from taking care of yourself. Leaving your mouth untreated will lead to bigger problems later. We not only mitigate pain through anesthetics, but we even make the process of the numbing agent a more comfortable experience. We use a painless oral injection system called DentalVibe. Studies found that 94% of patients felt  injections with DentalVibe were less painful than injections without the use of vibration.

topical anesthetic

We start with the strongest topical anesthetic to reduce the chance of feeling anything during the numbing injections.

Painless oral injection

We utilize a painless oral injection system, DentalVibe®, to reduce any discomfort during the numbing process. DentalVibe provides gentle vibration to the site of the dental injection. This overloads the nerve that sends pain signals to the brain so you don’t feel the injection.

Did you do it yet?

Most patients who have a DentalVibe injection aren’t even aware they’ve had an injection! The vibrations disperse the anesthesia once it’s injected to allow it to get to work even faster…plus the sound of the vibration creates an added distraction!

Tips & advice from Dr. Silverman:

Enjoy coffee? Do you often brush after?

Did you know that after drinking coffee it’s important to rinse your mouth with water before brushing? Coffee is acidic and can be hard on teeth. Rinsing will reduce the acidity in the mouth and allow you to brush without worry of damaging the enamel!
